My Favorite Things to Do & See
Spring has arrived in the Hudson Valley, and we are seeing a surge of new people looking to buy homes. Some homes are total rehab, some are completely move in ready. I have seen homes last one or two days on the market and sell above the asking price. I have seen properties linger on the market forever, only with deals that fall apart again at the last minute. I see homes that are beautiful and others that make me wonder what the builder was thinking so many years ago. The Hudson Valley is overflowing with a variety of architectural styles. We are quite unique that way.
Most of my clients come from different parts of New York City and parts of NJ. Their motivation for moving here is for work or family, or both. Everyone comes for a slightly different reason, but everyone agrees that this is a beautiful place to live.
Recently, new clients asked me many different questions about who lives here, who is moving here, where are the best restaurants, where to shop, how are the schools and how fast do homes sell in the area. All great questions when locating to a new area. While I can’t answer all of these questions, I can inform my clients where they might be able to get the answers they are looking for. Learning as much as you can about where your new home is going to be is an important part of the home buying process. I am not always the source of all the info, but I can be the source of the source. I am happy to share a wealth of information I have learned over the last 30 plus years that I have made Balmville NY my home.
The question I was asked that was the hardest to answer was “what do you like about living here“. I never had a client ask this question before. It took me a minute to decide what to say, and then I talked about a ton of my favorite things. Why should that be such a hard question? Why did I hesitate? There are so many wonderful reasons to live here, that the answers are many. It took me a minute to decide how to share all the wonderful places I’m come to love and call home. The answer would be different for everyone that lives here, but one thing in common is that living in the Hudson Valley is the best!
Since most people are looking to live near where they work, finding a home as close to their job that meets their expectations and budget is what I work on first for my clients. After those criteria are met then finding a home near family, a specific school district they may choose and also recreational features that may be important.
The choices are many and the landscape can be breathtakingly beautiful. Just 50 to 75 miles north of New York City you can find some rather amazing things to do and see here.

Come take a look, and you are sure to find a house to call your own. A Love Affair you don’t want to miss.
